what is strategy?

To me, strategy is often in the eye of the beholder. Its meaning changes based on the circumstances, the people, and their relationship to how strategy has either helped their efforts in the past… or not.

I tend to operate in a world of strategy that strives to inspire visual or written creative expressions and/or grounded periods of connection to solve problems. My goal is to build harmonious cross-functional partnerships because strategy on its own is, alas, meaningless. If it’s a creative project, I exist to help the creative team with the information and inspiration they need: I’m there to serve them. If it’s organizational, I exist to help the different adoption teams develop and implement solutions. If I’m facilitating a workshop, I aim to make the experience impactful and leave with tangible results. I never suggest strategy just for strategy’s sake.

My approach is one rooted in mindfulness. It’s one that sees problems from a holistic point of view: both the forest for the trees and recognizing the importance of the trees themselves. I tend to apply paradigms that blend the esoteric and the pragmatic. These paradigms offer creative inspiration and tangible solutions. It’s a method that has been cultivated over years of teaching mindfulness while simultaneously leading strategic efforts for some of the largest organizations in the world, often in new, experimental, and dynamic landscapes.
